Our Story

Built for Beekeepers, Rooted in Nature

SkogHive was born from a deep love of bees — and a belief that the right tools make all the difference between frustration and a flourishing hive.

SkogHive founder

A Backyard, a Hive, and a Calling

It started the way most meaningful things do — quietly. Our founder Erik set up his first Langstroth hive in his backyard in 2014, captivated by the ancient relationship between humans and bees.

After countless seasons tending his own colonies and watching friends give up beekeeping because of leaky supers and ill-fitting frames, Erik decided to do something about it. SkogHive (Swedish for "forest hive") launched with one mission: to make quality beekeeping equipment accessible to every level of beekeeper, designed first for the health of the colony.

"I didn't start SkogHive to sell boxes. I started it because bees changed my life — and I wanted to give more people that same experience."

We Build for the Bees First

Colony Collapse Disorder has wiped out more than half of managed honeybee colonies in the U.S. Every SkogHive product is designed to minimize stress on the colony — no toxic sealants, no treated lumber near the brood chamber.

Untreated Interior Wood

Interior surfaces are left natural — no paints or sealants that could harm your colony.

Precision-Fitted Joinery

CNC-cut components fit snugly, reducing propolis buildup stress and drafts.

Bee Space Compliant

Every frame and super is built to exact Langstroth bee-space standards (6–9mm).

FSC-Certified Wood

We source from sustainably managed forests — better for bees, better for the planet.

Sustainability Commitment

We Take the Long View — Because Bees Do Too

Our sustainability commitments aren't marketing language — they're decisions baked into every step of how we operate.

  • FSC-certified wood from responsibly managed forests
  • Minimal, recyclable packaging — no styrofoam, ever
  • Low-waste CNC production with offcut recycling
  • 1% of annual revenue donated to pollinator habitat restoration
  • Carbon-offset shipping available at checkout
